Art, at its essence, is about connection—that moment when something resonates so deeply it shifts your perspective. Whether I'm looking at a painting, lost in a piece of music, or turning the pages of a compelling book, I seek that spark of recognition, that sense of shared understanding. This is the same connection I strive to create through my own work.
My creative process is an ongoing dialogue with possibility. Each blank canvas presents infinite paths forward, and I've learned to trust the journey rather than forcing a predetermined destination. What begins as exploration—a search for color harmony, compositional balance, and that elusive state of flow—often reveals exactly what the piece needs to become. With the physical the layering of texture, the push and pull of paint, and rhythm of mark-making something clicks into place.
This approach has shaped my practice since earning my Fine Art degree from Fort Hays State University in 1993. Today, my award-winning work finds homes in collections across the United States, Canada, and Europe—a testament to art's ability to transcend geographic boundaries and speak to shared human experiences.
For over 25 years, I've also specialized in pet portraits, translating the unique spirit of beloved companions into lasting tributes. These commissions hold particular meaning for me. When clients tell me they speak to the portrait of their departed pet, I know I've succeeded in capturing something essential—not just a likeness, but a presence that continues to comfort and connect.
Beyond fine art, I bring this same attention to connection and visual storytelling to my role as graphic designer and illustrator at Jozee Designs. Here, I collaborate on diverse projects—websites, print materials, and custom design solutions—each requiring the same fundamental skill: the ability to see clearly and translate that vision into something meaningful for others.
Whether working on canvas, paper, or screen, my goal remains constant: to create work that resonates, that invites viewers into a moment of shared understanding, and that honors the endless possibilities inherent in every creative endeavor.
